In honour of finding this animation I made ages ago on a long since defunct hard drive, I am taking an opportunity to reprint another gem from 2005 …
It sounds like a new religion, (frighteningly, that sounds like it might put a smile on his face), but a Bushism is actually one of the new words he hasn’t coined himself, made up by journalists who were usually the recipients of his wonderful turn of phrase, to describe the unusually large amount of nonsense which comes from his direction.
Lets examine his presidency in these terms by looking at his policy in several areas … but first some random gems ….
“Just remember it’s the birds that’s supposed to suffer, not the hunter.” —George W. Bush, advising quail hunter and New Mexico Sen. Pete Domenici, Roswell, N.M., Jan. 22, 2004
“I couldn’t imagine somebody like Osama bin Laden understanding the joy of Hanukkah.” — at a White House menorah lighting ceremony, Washington, D.C., Dec. 10, 2001
“They misunderestimated me.” —George W. Bush, Bentonville, Ark., Nov. 6, 2000
“I know the human being and fish can coexist peacefully.” —George W. Bush, Saginaw, Mich., Sept. 29, 2000 (it’s a relief at least that the fish are safe from the war on terror!)
